On Saturday morning, February 8, 2025, MMA-MWA Leadership Academy celebrated our third edition of its 5K Race in our host city of San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic.
The day kicked off with excitement as more than 350 runners and walkers, including all our students with their families and friends, as well as runners from throughout the Dominican Republic, gathered to join the only race of its kind in the province of San Pedro de Macorís. The race wasn’t just about competition; it was a chance to share the word of God, creating an atmosphere of faith and unity that spread throughout the city.

The event, known as *5K SPM*, has become a popular event for people of all ages. It was so successful that local radio and TV stations covered it, and everyone is already asking when the next one will be.
Running in a 5K race like this reminds us of important life lessons that help build the character needed for leadership. The dedication and effort to prepare for and finish the race show the commitment and perseverance needed to be an effective leader. Plus, the support and unity among participants highlight the value of teamwork and helping each other.

We want to give our heartfelt thanks to our great God for providing all of our needs that allowed us to hold this amazing event! We deeply appreciate all the assistance from the Dominican Baptist Church, our dedicated team, volunteers, sponsors, and authorities, especially Mayor Raymundo Ortiz and Risk Management Director Rey Ramirez Acosta, for their unwavering support.

We also thank the city’s response teams, including the National Police, DIGESETT, Civil Defense, and URAE, for keeping everyone safe. A special shoutout to Nelson Yan Charless and the SPM RUNNERS Club for their valuable help. Thanks to all the participants who made this event a true celebration of sports and community.
